Help[Opinions] Jennison
I was surprised to discover that the Jennison surname is quite rare as a given name, when it is so similar in appearance and sound to (increasingly) popular names like Jameson, Jamison, Jensen, Jenson and similar names. I guess it must be undiscovered by the general public (at least for now), though I don't really know why. Perhaps it is too close (for comfort) to the dated name Jennifer?
Either way, I was wondering how you all feel about Jennison as a given name. For example, would it be more pleasant to the eyes and ears than, say, Jamison and Jensen? And would you prefer to see it on a boy or a girl? The name is unisex from what I have been able to tell, but it looks like it is slightly more often given to females than to males.

I don't really like surnames as given names, they aren't my thing at all. But I find giving a 'son' name to a female completely ridiculous! So though I'd never use it myself, Jennison would be strictly a male name to me

Hmm, I think it could work as a name. I've never heard of it as a surname, though. I really am only associating it with a place, Jenison, near where I'm from. So it feels more place-y to me, which is neither better nor worse than a surname name. I do like "Jen" on a boy, for a nickname.

Seems to be pretty uncommon as a last name too.
