Living in Delaware, Christiana makes me think of the numerous things named after it (the school district, the hospital, mall, etc.) I almost wish it didn't, because it does sound very pretty.
I don't think any nickname is inevitable. I'm called Becca by a lot of people upon first meeting them, but a simple correction does the trick. I think Ana works just fine, too.
I prefer Christiana with one- or two-syllable pairings for the sake of keeping it easy to say, but I'm not going to stick with that rule.
