[Opinions] Re: Can a celebrity that you can't stand destroy a name that you love?
in reply to a message by Felie
I think it's certainly possible, but like Serafina Starstrider said, a name is far more likely to be ruined by a terrible person you've actually met. Off the top of my head, disliked celebrities haven't ruined names I liked beforehand, but some names that have been ruined from real-life associations:Connor
Marissa
Wyatt
Jared
Stephanie (nearly every Stephanie I've met has been, to put it mildly, crazy)Please rate my personal name lists:www.behindthename.com/pnl/69381

Agree.
I really like the name Johanna - I find it beautiful and strong and I love the character from Sweeney Todd - but it's a very common name here and 8 out of 10 Johannas have been horrible to me.

There was a Johanna in my elementary school, her identical twin was named Claudia. They weren't the worst, they weren't exactly bullies but they weren't nice. Claudia, Johanna, Julia, Denea, and Paula all took advantage of my sweet nature but they didn't bully. They definitely looked down on me and talked to me like I had a disease or something so they probably made fun of me in private. They were the smartest girls in the school and all of them except Paula came from a rich family. They pressured me to leave the school gardening club because everyone else in it was apart of their clique and even though I was more passionate about gardening than them I left. I had my own garden at home and they made me feel unwelcome. My point is that Johanna feels like a stuck-up, smart girl name to me. Johanna isn't exactly ruined for me but I don't love what I imagine. For me all Sarah's I've known have been crazy, most of them have been good crazy but as I said before one especially bad crazy Sarah ruined the name for me and all Sera names. The only other name I'd say is partially ruined for me is Allison. The two biggest female bullies at my elementary school were Allison and Alyson. Allison was a manipulative popular girl bully who did emotional damage, Alyson would physically harm you or call you names. Alyson would even sometimes beat up boys, she was strong and her last name was Buck which suited her.
