Help[Opinions] Dora, Nora or Cora?
Since reading Starstrider's thread on -dora names I have been thinking about Dora quite a bit. It always gave me a but of a dumb impression, it just felt dull, heavy and round to me. But it is growing on me a little bit, I think I might start to like it a little :P I like how it means 'gift' and it does fit in with names that are popular now such as Nora and Cora.
Do you think Dora could have a comeback such as Nora and Cora? Which one is your favorite and why? Which one your least favorite?

This is because they seems incomplete.
Also Dora is but it is a full name here (a river) and has a clear origin (gift in Greek).
Nora seems to me only a short of Eleonora. After that I love the Arabic name Nour and I know that Nora could be a variant for it but I dislike anyway. Finally Nora is the protagonist of 'A Doll's House' by Ibsen..I think nearly the worst book I've ever read (only in my opinion of course) so I dislike Nora very much.
Cora is different.
When I was younger one of my favourite names was Corinna which is its diminutive but more successful here in Italy. Both have a nice meaning and an interesting origin. For this reason I find Cora incomplete.

I was quite indifferent to Nora and Dora, until a really fun, very awesome Nora (character) has made me start to really like it. Cora's one of my least favourite names, because it's the name of my least favourite, most hated character in my favourite book, and Cora's been tainted ever since, even through other, better associations.

Dora is a lot like Donna. Dumpy on paper but nice in real life IMO.
Cora is okay. The sound strikes me wrong somehow, seems a little harsh and hollow.
Nora is a nice name, but I don't like it that much because it sounds negative to me. Not a this, Nora that.
D names in general feel out of fashion. But I like Dora best of these and I think it should have a comeback, even though I think it won't. Not soon anyhow.

Cora! I've always liked Cora. Dora can be heavy-sounding, Nora is boring and sounds like gnaw, but Cora is youthful and lively.

I recall growing up and hearing occasional "dumb Dora" jokes on TV so I also had an impression of a really dumb woman named Dora. I just didn't find it attractive at all. Now that I've recently adopted a Chihuahua and named her Teodora ("Dora"), I find it totally adorable (no pun intended!). I definitely think it's ready for a comeback although like Nora, it's strictly a nn to me.
If I had to rank them, I'd go with Cora first and Dora second with Nora a very close third.

ETA that our little Dora is frequently serenaded with "Dora the Explorer," mainly because it's so much fun to sing, lol. It just feels intuitive and I suppose that a child Dora could object to the association. Then again, she might love it.

I like Dora a lot - it's one of the few diminutives that stands up by itself imo, is fresher than Dorothy and not so consciously trendy as Theodora.
I can't bear Cora, it's pronounced exactly the same as 'corer' here and I can't separate the two in my mind.
Nora/h to me is a terribly ugly and old-fashioned name, of the same vintage of Ethel, Edna, Beryl etc and I'm amazed it's having such a comeback. Not my cup of tea at all

I prefer the look of Norah over Nora, probably because it makes the name look just that tiny bit less like Cora and Dora, neither of which I like at all.
Cora sounds like the sound of a crow and looks unfinished or amputated; not sure which. Dora is plump and dumpy and has naturally dark hair which she highlights until she resembles a hyena. And if she isn't, then she's the revoltingly immature "child-wife" of the hero in David Copperfield, who never quite admitted - gallant man - that her early death was a lucky break for him. I think they're about equally awful.
Norah doesn't sound or feel like a nn to me; I've always greatly liked Eleanor and Elinor but I've never thought they needed nns any more than I thought that Norah might be one. I like Norah, but not quite enough to use because there are lots of names that I like more.
When my DD was little, she "read" a library book about a large, happy family who included twins, in high chairs with bibs. One bib read "Hi, I'm Laura" and the other was "Hi, I'm Nora" ... the family surname was Bone, and DD was so enchanted at the thought of Nora Bone (and at her own cleverness at seeing the joke) that she wanted our next dog to be Nora! This didn't happen, though I don't recall why not. Maybe the next one ... ?

I always liked Nora/ Norah. I used to dislike Cora and hate Dora. I disliked Dora before the children's character and after Dora the Explorer I came to hate it.
These days I like Cora as much as Nora and I don't hate Dora but I only feel okay about it. I still dislike Dory but I no longer hate it. Nori is a cool nn and so is Cory.
I think Dora, Cora, and Nora all work as full names or as nn's.
I like Cora and Corie as nn's for Cornelia or Cordelia.

For Dorothea I prefer the nn Thea or Dottie rather than Dora or Dory.
I think my lack of love for Dora is why I prefer Dorothea over Theodora because I pronounce Dorothea as a three syllable name or I pronounce it as four syllables but just barely. Yet I am starting to borderline like Dora so who knows what the future holds.
I want to add that Theodora looks really pretty but I find it annoying to pronounce. Pronouncing Dorothea with four syllables is also annoying. Something about the TH sound and four syllables seems difficult for me. I have a minor TH speech impediment. I need to be mindful because sometimes they because F's. Names and words starting or ending in TH are what I most often mispronounce. TH in the middle is easier like with Dorothy or Althea or Timothy.
