[Opinions] Juniper
What do you think of Juniper? Looks like it has started to rocket up the chart. Will it be to the 2020s and 2030s what Jennifer was to the 1970s and 1980s, do you think? My opinion: I don't like the "per" ending of Juniper any more than I like the "fer" ending of Jennifer.

I think it won't become that popular because it seems like a little bit too much of a statement to have mass appeal. It's almost like Marva or Holiday. Until all the Pipers and Harpers grow up (2040s) -- when they do, it could, because I think the nipper part won't seem so loud.

I like it, it's cute and spicy.

I dislike it because it sounds like you're saying Jennifer with a stuffed nose. Normally I should like it because the sound isn't bad and I love trees and flowers. But the former popularity of Jennifer just ruins it to me, it is way too close and always sounds like you have a cold and are trying to say Jennifer or like you're mumbling. It also reminds me of jupiter. Not necessarily a bad thing but it makes it kind of spacey. Hmmm if you had asked me a few years ago I would have told you it would only be able to have a very small rise in popularity, due to its similarity to Jennifer. I would have guessed that people were tired of similar sounds. Apart from that J-names aren't really so common for girls anymore. There is not a single J name in the girls top 80! The highest ranking J name is Julia, at number 89. And it is falling rather quickly. There is no other girls name starting with J in the top 100 of 2015. I think in 2016 or 2017 there might not be a single one in it depending on how quickly Julia falls! It seems to be rising against the odds but I don't see it in the top 50. I think it might not even reach the top 200. Depends on its exposure. If a famous celebrity uses it I could see it getting close to the top 100. But if it stays unexposed I think it might rise a bit, being used by hipster parents, but will never become really popular. Maybe it appeals to people because it is a nature names, like Willow and Rowan, which are getting more common.

I 100% agree with your last paragraph. That was everything I was thinking but decided to be lazy and keep what I wrote short.

I highly doubt it will be the next Jennifer, I don't think it will make it into the Top 100 in the 2020's or 2030's. It's already started to slow down, It will probably make it to be somewhere in the 200's not quite making it into the Top 100 but maybe it won't even quite make it that far.My husband's cousin born two or three years ago in Canada is named Millie Juniper. I don't think Millie is short for anything.A few years ago I myself loved the name Juniper and it was near the bottom of my Top 20 favorite girl's names. I like it more as a mn than a fn these days but I wouldn't use it since it was just used by my husband's aunt. Truthfully I don't even know if I love it anymore, I definitely at least like it.

I don't think it will become as popular as Jennifer was. I dislike the "nipper" sound.

I like it. And I don't mind the 'per' part, after all, that's my father's name. ;-)

Juniper is cute, I like the nn Juni. Not sure it's going to see much use here in Australia though, time will tell.

I like it as a slightly "out there" nature name that doesn't sound that strange
