[Opinions] Birdie and Bridie
What do you think of Birdie?
And what do you think of Bridie?
Do they only work as nicknames? Do they not work at all?
ॐ मणिपद्मे हूं
"Speak the truth; yield not to anger; when asked, give even if you only have a little."
"Live alone and do no evil; be carefree like an elephant in the elephant forest."

Birdie\Birdy is baby talk. It's what a baby or small child calls a bird. "Mommy, look birdies!!"
Bridie is a bit better but not by much

I like Birdie as a nn because of the musical "Bye Bye Birdie".
Bridie if it pronounced similar to Bridget is a fairly okay nn. Bridie pronounced similar to the word "bride" I super dislike unless it is a nn for your future bride, then it is okay but still not great.
So conclusion is I prefer Birdie as a nn for someone.

Love both. I'd only use them as nns, but wouldn't find it objectionable (would find it interesting, in fact) to see them on a birth certificate.
I agree with you, I would be pleasantly surprised to meet anyone name Bridie or Birdie. I use to really dislike nickname names, but I can see the appeal of them recently. I love your username btw.
Love both, although I'd spell the first one as Birdy.
Bridie is especially darling. It's my favorite nn for Bridget. I've considered it for a future cat name -- the highest honor this name nerd / cat lady can bestow.
My sister's MIL is Bridie (Bridget). She's from Ireland. Bridie feels like it could become mega-popular here in the U.S., like Sadie and Hattie, if people could get over the "bride" part. It's spunky and friendly. I wouldn't use it without a full name though. Bridget, the traditional full name, is the only one that I can think of. But for Birdy I could also see Bernadette or any bird name (Wren, Linnet, Mavis, Paloma, etc.) :0)

Ooooh, yeah I like Birdy. It's somehow more mature if that's even possible.
I'm the same, I won't have kids but I will probably always have cats, they seem to just show up and then I have to take care of them.
WAH. I love the idea of Birdy as a nn for a bird name omigosh. Like oooh a really heavy name like Philomela, nn Birdy. YES.

Birdie is an okay nickname... not at all as a given name.
I don't really like the sound of Bridie.
I don't really like the sound of Bridie.
Is it 'cause of the "bride" sound? I used to really dislike that but I dig it now for whatever reason.
Not precisely, though I do have a general aversion to 'Br' names that I can't entirely explain, though that tends to be more the case with boys.
I'm not completely sure what I don't like about it. It just feels... unfinished That doesn't quite cover all of my impression, but

Brighty is neato. It's sort of futuristic looking for some reason.
I like them both, but only as nicknames. Especially Birdie, which is really charming as a nickname, but would be totally ridiculous as a given name. Can you imagine a judge called Birdie?
Yeah sure! "All stand for Judge Birdie (surname)." I totally works. /s haha
I know someone with a daughter named Bridie. It's her full name. I quite like it - it seems light-hearted, and old-fashioned in a good way,and as far as I know she hasn't had any problems with it.
Birdie is too... bird-brained for me.

Light-hearted, that's a good way to describe it.
But... but... birds are cool though.

My goddaughter is known as Birdie or Bird in the family. It's so sweet and suits her down to the ground, but would be ridiculous as her 'real' name.

Hi !!!
Yes ... only NNs.
They are too weak to be FN imo.
Bridie is the best anyway.

Yeah. 'Weak' is probably a good description. Like tea with too much milk. But they're so cutesy idk why I like them. haha
