[Opinions] Eve
I'm reading a book with a character named Eve and now, all the sudden, I really love the name. What do you think of Eve? I really like it on its own, without the nickname Evie. Is Eve too much to saddle a child with? Is Eve as a middle name too much of a cop out? What do you think of Susannah Eve?

Eve is stunningly simple. I love it and could picture myself using it as a mn. While I don't normally care for names ending in a vowel/vowel sound paired with mns that begin with one, I really like Susannah Eve. Maybe it's because I adore Susannah / Susanna AND Eve so much. ;-)

I love the name Eve, it's a fave of mine. I find it so beautiful, yet simple and elegant. I considered it for Eden, since she's our first DD after two DSs, but she was just an Eden! I don't see any problem with using Eve, not at all. It's lovely for a mn too, but nicer for a fn. Susannah Eve is alright, but I think Eve Susannah has more spark and is more appealing.

A girl (woman now, really) that I went to school with named her daughter Eve. She'd be about 6 now and she's very cute. I thought it was a bold yet refreshing choice when she chose it and I still think that. I really love the simplicity and strength of the name. It's definitely not 'sweet' or 'cute' but it has a beauty to it and that's what I look for in a name. Her daughter gets Evie on occasion but she's very much 'Eve' most of the time so I think you can avoid it. Evie is very popular in Australia right now and she's still never become exclusively Evie and I don't think she will- it just doesn't suit her. So no, definitely not too much to saddle a child with!Susannah Eve is gorgeous. I don't think it's a cop out- it's not a name many people have in the middle so it doesn't seem filler-ish to me.

I'm a little biased, but here's my take on Eve and its variations.Eve - too Biblical for my taste (so yes, a bit much to saddle a child with) and also very short. I find it too short, very abrupt. Also it's slightly wordy (as in Christmas eve etc.). Sweet middle name though. Susannah Eve is lovely. Evie - over the top cutesy, doesn't age wellI prefer Eva or Evelyn :)

No it's not too much at all, in fact I think it's quite clean and simple. I think it's a great name.

Eve is very nice -- streamline, chic, and what could be more classic? It's definitely not a name any child could be ashamed of, and with likeable, bouncy Evie as a nickname possibility, it will be quite comfortable.Eve Susannah is more attractive than Susannah Eve.I do prefer Eva slightly, which I definitely would use.

I love Eve. I don't think it's too much to saddle a child with and I've known several Eves. It's a good name. (You should actually hear my dad go on about how Adam is more to blame than Eve!) Eve Susannah is gorgeous. MOst of the Eves I've known have gone by Eve - I knew an Eve Susan.

It's definitely not too much to saddle a child with. If Sophia isn't, Eve surely isn't.
I like it. Not Eva. I don't think you can completely count on nobody calling her Evie. Since, what if she likes it? but who cares, really. Just don't do it yourself.
I like it better as a first name, Eve Susannah. It's a good middle too.
As you surely realize, it is a cop out or worse if you would really rather use it as a first name, and are putting it in the middle slot only because you know some other people are misled about the biblical Eve.

I meant cop out just because it's a one syllable easy middle name option like Jane or Grace. I like Eve Susannah more than the reverse, but I love Susannah more than Eve.

lol. Ok. No, I don't think it's fillerish, at least not with most first names. Because it doesn't flow like Jane or Grace with most names. And the initial reads more awkwardly too (Susannah E. Smith vs Susannah J. Smith). So I think you have to want Eve in particular, to use it as a middle name.

Eve is simple & elegant & calm & cool. Evie... isn't.
Not sure about Eve as a middle name - it makes me think of Christmas Eve, so Susannah Eve sounds like the night before Susannah! But Eve Susannah is great.

Susannah Eve is very pretty indeed, and Eve Susannah would be too.I think it's fine. People get named Lilith and Delilah, after all! I've known several Eve people, and they've all been as well adjusted as anyone else.I had an aunt named Eva. Once, on one of my brave days, I asked my grandmother how they'd arrived at the name and she explained that Eva was their first child, so it seemed appropriate, and they also liked the fact that it didn't shorten to anything - she and my granddad both went by nns. At that point, my aunt came into the room and offered us tea. Without blinking, my gran said "Ooh yes, thank you, Eve". Heroically, I didn't laugh. But I'm certain she was never Evie!

I generally don't care for monosyllabic names on girls unless they are nicknames. I do like Eve though, and much better than Evie. Personally, I'd use it as a nickname for Evanthe, Evadne, or Eveline.

I love Eve. It is so elegant in its simplicity.I don't see it at all as a "saddling" type of name. I don't see how it would be at all a burden to bear. It has no negative connotation that I know of. It's not something that would invite teasing or ridicule, so I don't see a problem with a child named Eve. I don't think Eve as a middle name is a cop out, as Rose, Mae, Leigh, Grace are. Like them, it sounds good as a middle name with most first names, barring one-syllable ones, but it's not overly used as a middle name and not fillerish, that I'm aware of. Susannah Eve is gorgeous.

Haha, well I think some people think Eve is to blame for our fallen world. :D

I know a woman in her 70s named Eve, and every time I hear her name, I like it.It seems fresh and sharp, probably because it reminds me of evergreens. My cousin recently used Eve as a MN for her daughter Julia. I didn't think it was a cop out, although in her case it's an honoring name.

Eve's okay, but Eva is much nicer. Evie is annoying and babyish. I think to me, Eve's main drawback is it just sounds clumsy. Endings like that don't seem complete, so they don't slip off the tongue very easily. I think Eve is better as a middle name.

I'm so tired of Evie which is massively overused as a given name here in the UK, but I like Eve. I'm not religious, so I think of it more as Dawn's opposite (and more attractive) number, and don't think it's too much for a child at all.It would make a good middle name too, but I don't think it goes well with Susannah; it needs something ending with a consonant before it in my view

I really like Eve, it's simple and beautiful. I don't think it's too much to saddle a child with, it and its other forms are familiar enough outside of the Bible and hey, look at how fast Lilith is climbing. Delilah's almost in the top 100! So Eve is completely usable imo.Pretty much any one syllable middle name is a little bit of a cop out but Eve is a good and fairly unexpected choice. Susannah Eve is lovely.
