There's a town in New York near where I went to college called New Rochelle. My husband and I went on our first date to a movie theater in New Rochelle. I think of the town when I hear the name Rochelle.

I think in the US that Rochelle has a "tacky" vibe as a personal name. It makes me think of a rough-looking woman. It actually makes me think of a prostitute.
