I prefer the Vee version because it's further away from the violin and especially the viola. And it's more floral!
My Minister has a granddaughter named Viola. I like it. I think it would cause some pronunciation problems but that's easily corrected.
Viola is a gorgeous name. I vacillate between which pronunciation I prefer: VIE-oh-lah or vie-OH-lah. Both are fetching.
And while Violet is also pretty, with Viola you're not one letter off of "violent."

I love it!
Where I live (Austria) it is pronounced vee-O-la. I never cared for it much. I assumed in English speaking countries it was vy-O-la and never cared about that either. Then I heard it pronounce VY-o-la and I immediately loved it :) I only like it when the emphasis is on the first syllable, like Violet just with an A ending. But because of pronunciation issues I wouldn't use it. But I like it a lot!
I think it's beautiful. It's strong and a little mysterious, though I do prefer Violet.
