[Opinions] Marceline or Marcella?
I've loved the name Marceline for 5 years now but lately I've been loving Marcella/ Marcela as well.
With Marcella pronounced mahr-SE-lah and Marceline pronounced mahr-se-LEEN which do you prefer and why?
What personality would these two have based on their name?
Do you prefer Marcie, Celine, Ella, or Ellie as a nn?
Bonus question: Do you prefer Marguerite or Marcelina to either of these?
---------------
Favorite Names:
Marguerite, Vivian, Dorothea, Artemis, Hazel, Aurora, Fiona, Clara, Leona, Luna, Maeve, Iris, Frida, April, Cascadia, Vanessa, Sabrina, Citrina
Brendan, Kieran, Rowan, Tristan, Arthur, Malcolm, Julian, Adrian, Robin, Cedric, Cedar, Connor, Oliver, Gavin, Magnus, Xavier, Gryphon

I much prefer Marceline. It flows better, and avoids the icky -cella ending. Marcella sounds villainous and contagious. I wouldn't be surprised to see it on a Disney villain or an newly discovered virus.
Personality wise, Marceline sounds quiet, pretty, and artistic. I wouldn't use a nickname, but if I had to choose, I'd use Ellie. Marcie sounds dated, Celine is its own name, and Ella is too trendy.
Marceline still wins out over Marguerite and Marcelina. Marcelina is too flowery, and I just don't care for Margaret or any of its variations.

I love both, but I prefer the sleekness of Marceline.
I don't really associate names with personalities...
I don't care for any of those nicknames, though Marcie is cute.
Marguerite's one of my favorite names, so I prefer it to Marcella and Marcelline.

I like Marceline. I think it sounds something like...elegant, spirited, sweet.
I like Marcella, too, but right now it's mostly just making me think of a bitter 1960s housewife.
Marcella maybe also seems louder/brighter to me while Marceline seems softer/subtler.
I feel like Ellie is too much of a stretch, and I like Ella but only as a NN for Marcella. I prefer Marceline on its own, but I think I'd pick Celine over Marcie.
In order of preference:
1. Marceline
2. Marguerite
3. Marcella
4. Marcelina

I much prefer Marcella on rhythm alone. I don't enjoy Marcelina at all, and Marguerite ranks far below Margaret in my mind.
Marcelle and Marcella have much the same vibe to me: artistically talented, frighteningly bright, excellent company.
I don't think a nn is needed; if it is, I might use Cell but only at gunpoint.

I love Marceline and hate Marcella. Marceline seems very elegant and refined. Marcella has a frumpy vibe to me (I really dislike Ella and most of the 'El' names; that's probably why).
I don't think every name has to be shortened and I wouldn't shorten Marceline. I definitely wouldn't use Marcie, Ella or Ellie because they're not to my taste. Celine I think would be a stretch. Em or Mimi maybe
eta I don't like Marcela either. Coming round to Marguerite, but prefer Margarita (it doesn't bother me that there's a cocktail named for it)

Marceline! I think it's cute, there is something old fashioned and sweet about it. Marcella and Marcela are a bit harsh and cold. Marceline is nicer. Ella and Ellie don't work as nicknames for these two names, in my opinion. They are too much of a stretch. Celine works well on its own so I would just use that, if you want to call her Celine. So I pick Marcie, but prefer the full name. I prefer Marguerite over Marcella and Marcelina. I like Marguerite and Marceline about the same.
Hi !!!
I prefer Marceline !!
Unusual but sweet.
Marcella has an horrible sound and it is so dated.
Marceline 'Céline' is lovely!!!
Bonus q. Between Marcelina and Marguerite I choose Marguerite. It has a regal vibe although it seems quite dated.
