Some look rather more Scottish than others, but here goes:Frank - prefer Francis
Jack - good as a nn
Jonathan - dislike: long and dull
Randall - shortens unpleasantly to Randy
Fraser - family name; like very much
Jamie - like only as a nn for James
Reginald - unattractive
Lamb - eh?
Graham - like very much; pity it's dated
Colum - unattractively architectural
James - like very much, enough to use
Arnold - dated and drab
Hamish - quite good fun; prefer James (there were brothers, twins I think, who played cricket for New Zealand and were named Hamish and James, which I think was a bad idea)
Murtagh - dull and clumsy
Alec - like very much; favourite nn for Alexander and also good as a name in its own right
Dougal - quite cute; prefer Douglas
Rupert - the Bear? Robert and Robin are both family names, and I'd use Robin so there's no room for Rupert
MacKenzie - only if it's a family name

Most of those names are English
Fraser - I quite like it, in an understated kind of way
Graham - I really hate Graham, it's such an old grandpa with biscuit crumbs on his cardy kind of name
Colum - Not keen on Colum, but I do like Columba (I was at school with twin brothers called Kentigern & Columba)
Hamish - Love Hamish
Murtagh - Dislike. I always thought Murtagh was the Irish version and Murdo (which I quite like) the Scottish
Alec - Nice, especially as a shortening of Alexander
Dougal - Meh
MacKenzie - A big no to the whole surname thingOther Scottish names I like: Blair (very much male only in Scotland), Ninian & Ringan, Fergus and Rory

Frank (1/10): One of my all-time least favorite names. Irredeemably ugly. Is it even Scottish?
Jack (4/10): Seems sprightly and mischievous. Makes me think of spring-heeled Jack. It's too short for my taste.
Jonathan (3/10): Just ok. Too bland and common IMO.
Randall (2/10): Ugly. Would be shortened to Randy, which is a terrible nickname.
Fraser (4/10): I'm ambivalent. I think it comes on too strong to be a first name.
Jamie (5/10): Very cute, but perhaps too little-boyish.
Reginald (2/10): Fusty and bumbling. Makes me think of an idiot aristocrat. Like Wooster from Jeeves and Wooster, but without the charm.
Lamb (0/10): The worst on this list. It's not even a name.
Graham (7/10): I like it. A boy from my school with this name became a ballet dancer in New York City!
Colum (3/10): Looks too close to gollum. I prefer Callum.
James (6/10): A classic. This is my father's name. Jamie would make a good nickname!
Arnold (1/10): Ugly. All I can think of is the aardvark in Hey Arnold.
Hamish (3/10): Awkward sounding. Makes me think of ham sandwich.
Murtagh (6/10): I like it. Sounds like a character in a fantasy novel.
Alec (6/10): Very cool-sounding, but too insubstantial for my taste. I prefer it as a nickname for Alexander.
Dougal (2/10): Sounds like a joke name, or an ironic name for a dog. Douglas is better.
Rupert (2/10): Slightly better than Randall and Reginald, but only because of Rupert Grint.
MacKenzie (4/10): I like the sound, but unfortunately it's become way too feminized.

Hello :)Frank 3/10 - it is okay, but seems incomplete and dated.
Jack 5/10 - it's fine but also boring.
Jonathan 4/10 - will probably end up with the bland nickname of Jon and it feels tired.
Randall - 3/10 - don't like this and the nickname of Randy is really uhm problematic.
Fraser 5/10 - dislike the sound but it's more original.
Jamie 6/10 - dated and has gone over to the girls but I kind of like it.
Reginald 5/10 - kind of cool in a very old fashioned way.
Lamb - 0/10 - this should just stay a word.
Graham 7/10 - this is nice.
Colum 1/10 - too close to the word 'column'.
James 5/10 - solid classic but boring.
Arnold 1/10 - dislike, makes me think of 'Hey Arnold'.
Hamish 2/10 - never cared for this.
Murtagh 1/10 - dislike.
Alec 5/10 - nice but doesn't work well on its own and I dislike Alexander.
Dougal - 0/10 - dislike the sound.
Rupert 7/10 - this is kind of cool.
MacKenzie 5/10 - has gone over to the girls but not bad.

Frank, Jack, Jonathan, Randall, Reginald, Lamb, James, Arnold, and Rupert are not Scottish.I can't stand Frank, Arnold, Hamish, and Rupert. Arnold is so nerdy.I've never heard of Lamb as a name. I certainly would not advocate using it as such.I like Jack, Jonathan, James, Alec, and Dougal.MacKenzie is too surnamey and it's become too popular for girls. Fraser is also too surnamey and it sounds pretentious.I kind of like Graham, but it does make me think of the cracker.Murtagh is a bit much and not too attractive a sound.Reginald is so foppish.I particularly like Colum.I don't like Jamie on a grown man. It was my husband's nickname as a child and he found it so burdensome that he changed his nickname upon reaching adolescence, although his family continued to use it.I'm neutral towards Randall.
