For me it's very associated with Freud. I think much of it has to do with my senior high school (is that what it's called?) which was psychology oriented. Each student belonged to a specific class, and those classes were named after famous people. My class was Rosa Parks, but there were also Freud, Astrid Lindgren, Suu Kiy etc. And we talked/read a lot about Freud since it was psychology oriented. I probably wouldn't associate the name with Freud if it hadn't been for this school.I don't really like Ziggy as a nickname. Maybe just Sig?

I love it! Ziggy is an adorable nickname.I'm sure most people in the country aren't as familiar with Sigmund as they are with Freud.

It's always been a guilty pleasure of mine. I think it's especially associated with Freud amongst people with a higher education level. Otherwise, it just sounds like a cool name. Thankfully, I think it's becoming less associated with Freud over time, as more people are starting to reclaim names with negative connotations - like Ophelia, Lucretia, Sampson, Morgana, Lilith, Pandora, Aryan, Lazarus, Hannibal, Lucifer, for instance.

I'm partial to Zigmund over Sigmund.
