[Opinions] Montrose
I came across this name very recently (it was the name of an American actress) and I immediately wondered what you guys would think of it, since I have seen Primrose mentioned here frequently over the years, which I personally feel has a similar vibe to Montrose. So, how do you feel about Montrose, on its own and when compared to Primrose? And which gender would you prefer someone named Montrose to be: male or female? I did some research and it seems that there are more male bearers than female bearers out there, but nonetheless, the name is definitely unisex.Personally, I think that Montrose looks and sounds like a soft and tender name, which makes me see it as a feminine name. I think it would work well as both a first name and a middle name, though when the name is a first name, you might have to worry about people shortening it to Monty (which is a bit too masculine in my mind). Fortunately, Rose and Rosie are also viable and easy nicknames for Montrose (and also much more clearly feminine), so people would probably be more inclined to first go for those than for Monty.Alright, that was my opinion so far! :) I would be curious to hear your impression (and also associations, if any) of the name.

It's a potential guilty pleasure that I've been vetting as of late. Personally, I prefer it on a boy. It reminds me of other Mont- surnames that I like - Montaigne, Montmorency, Montgomery - which are all firmly masculine. I still can't decide if I like it enough to commit it to my PNL though!

It's a surname, & it doesn't sound at all feminine to me - it resembles Montague & Montgomery, so if I saw it as a first name I'd expect an old man who went by Monty. I know it's a town in Scotland, but tbh the first thing it makes me think of is Waitrose (a supermarket)

I know it's actually Montreux that Deep Purple sings about in Smoke on the Water, but I just want to sing "We all came down to Montrose..." :PI prefer Primrose or just Rose.
