[Opinions] Rowan vs Ronan
Which do you prefer and why?

Ronan
It sounds "cooler" but still usable. Rowan is OK but it does reminds me of the word "Rowing" too much. I can see the word and name getting misheard often.

Rowan because I just think it flows better
Ronan doesn't seem as attractive as Rowan to my ears and eyes. I like the tree aspect of Rowan, and I always think of it as strictly masculine.
Funny: I once knew a Rowan who named his son Ronan! Rowan was a teacher, and at one point he'd taught a Ronan boy who was memorably magnificent, so he was happy to commemorate him while also almost using his own name.

Rowan
Rowan because it is slightly softer and I love the trees. Rowan does sound a bit like rowing but I have gotten past the association for the most part and decided it isn't negative.
Ronan is nice but I have mixed feelings. My first thought is Ronin like the masterless samurai, which is a cool association but maybe too cool like naming a kid Katana. I want to add that I used to watch the anime Ronin Warriors when I was very young and I watch a lot of anime so this is a strong association for me.
Also Ronan the Accuser in Guardians of the Galaxy is a villain.
Lastly it makes me think of roan horses.
Overall Ronan just feels a bit more macho than I like but it's a very cool name. Even though it doesn't make me think of seals I like the meaning of the name. I also like that it isn't very common in the US.
