Francesco is pretty boring so names that would go best with it would be names like Anna, Maria, Giulia, Laura and Alessandra. Ginevra, Eleonora, Elisabetta, Alice, Ludovica, Camilla, Marta and Beatrice work too, but not as well as Anna and Alessandra. But if I were her I would go for something at least a bit more exciting! Aurora is lovely but way too common in Italy. I would also stay away from Bianca which I love because it seems to be rising very quickly. Same with Mia and Noemi (love Noemi though).I would go with Anastasia, Clara, Sole (not necessarily Maria Sole even though I like it too) Maya or Linda. Or maybe Miriam, Greta, Viola, Arianna or Matilde. Lara also kind of works, so does Gaia. Eva is cute.I also like Azzurra and Allegra but next to Francesco they almost seem kind of crazy :P Same with Gioia and Giada they just seem out of place next to classic, ordinary Francesco even though they are popular too. Ohhh and Futura and Francesco? Hahaha sorry, but that seems so strange!

Hi Perrine !!!I'm glad that you like writing long comments!So..
Francesco is very very bored and so overused!
But the Pope is increasing its popularity more and more.
I dislike it (but I love François).
I agree with you that it would go with Anna and Alessandra (both overused and pretty boring as well imo).If I were the mother (with a little Francesco) I would use Serena, Clarissa, Dorotea, Diana, Anastasia, Esmeralda, Rossella, Diletta, Bianca, Lara, Allegra, Ines, Miriam, Marta, Veronica, Gioia. Uncertain about Virginia. It is the first time that I hear Futura.
But sometimes also Italian parents are creative.
I prefer Fortuna (it means luck but also fate/destiny refered to Roman myths).Yeah the names you said are dated while Virginia has a pretty classic, aristocratic and literarian vibe (so not strongly dated).Penelope..
You are right.. its beginning is the reason why it is unattractive..also because Italian usually short names simply with the beginning so everyone who likes Penelope is worried for future teasings (the word is right?)
I think it is popular because unusual and because of Mythology (It is not perceived as "Spanish").
I used to like when I was younger because it is Mythological and also I've always shortened it as Penny (a lovely name that I like as full name too) but growing up I found that the most of people are quite lazy to give nicknames and use simply "Pene" so..just not.
