My name is still n. 16, eh?It's interesting how popular Sofia had become, I know no one my age with that name.I really like Lorenzo and Leonardo, and Elisa for girls.

I'm surprised to see Allegra on there. I would have thought it was too much of a word, like Happy in the US. I guess it must have a different connotation, maybe something more like Joy?
Siria, Giusy, Micol, Diletta - all new to me and interesting! And Sveva is an interesting name.
I think Siria could be a fashionable name here, too, if not for the country. I am surprised that both Siria and Syria are on the list.
I guess Diletta is like Italian equivalent of Desiree? Sweet.
Alice very popular ... it sounds so very different in Italian from English. I guess Aurora is prettier in Italian too. I did not know these were so popular in Italy.
Giusy is too much like juicy in English, but I wonder what kind of impression you get from it in Italy.
Enea is interesting. The submitted name says it's a form of Aeneas?
Zeno number 118, I like that. How do you say the letter Z in it in Italy?
I hadn't ever noticed the name Mattia (#3!) before. Nor Ciro. I am surprised Mattia is above Matteo because I always thought Matteo was "the" Italian form of the name.
Asia - I like the Italian pronunciation. Surprised it is on the list.
And I'm surprised that Francesco is number one. A huge number one, too - 3.5%!
Is Mia taken to be a short form or pet form of Maria? Rather than the word mine?My faves from top 50 (I'm sure my taste is probably somewhat ugly to you, haha):
Francesco, Alessandro, Federico, Marco, Nicola
Sofia, Giulia, Martina, Ginevra, Francesca, Mia, Asia, Alessandra, Vittoria, Maria

Allegra feels more like "joyous" than happy. It's an old name, and for some reason traditionally used in Jewish communities.Diletta is what Bonnie is named in the translation of "Gone with the Wind".

Mattia is becoming more fashionable than Matteo.Asia probably is becoming popular because of Asia Argento. Why are you surprised by Francesco's popularity? It's the name of our patron saint after all...Mia feels odd to me, I'm surprised it 's catching on because it feels like being named "mine".

Hi !!Allegra: Yes, it is more like Joy.Siria/Syria: I think they are strange. They remeber a country which is devasted by war..I would not use them.Yeah..Diletta is like Désirée. It is nice!Aurora is better in Italian yes. Alice is worst because it is the same word for "anchovy".Giusy is the NN for Giuseppa.
I dislike it as full name.Enea is the variant of Aeneas. You are right!Zeno is pronounced DZE-no.Matteo and Mattia: I dislike both but it is like saying Matthew and Matthias.Do you like Asia? I dislike it.Yeah Francesco is in the top10 for more than 10 years!
And it is still so popular..Mia..well..I think that the link with "my, mine" is immediate. But I've never thought if it is judged as a NN for Maria. It could be..I don't know. It is very modern..I prefer other names yes..
But I like some English names that are strange to you as well :)

Alice, an anchovy? !!Well, I don't like the name Alice and that is just one more reason not to. Yay? hahaI think of Matthew and Matthias as the same name basically. I guess maybe they're not if they refer to different bible characters, but that's not something I'd think about.I sort of like Asia.. well, I would like it more seriously if it weren't the name of a continent. I like the simplicity of it and the zh sound that is natural even in English. Not a lot of English names have that sound and most of them, I don't like. I kind of like it spelled Aja too. A "guilty pleasure" sort of name maybe.I thought Siria might be a feminine form of Sirius. That's probably artificial, but I bet it would be used more here if not for the country.
