Totally think it is ok.
My bother went by Ed (Edward) for many year and just recently started going by Eddie.
He is about 40 years old.
I think I like it better than fuddy-duddy old Ed.
Charlie also works older. Jimmy and Vinnie too.
Sammy not so much.
