I almost used it for a character once. I'd like to see it as a middle name on someone else, I wouldn't use it though. It does have a lot of practical nicknames though... Anne, Annie, Mona, etc.

How many people think of the plant vs. the sea creature first when they hear "anemone"? I used to always think of sea anemones first but now I think of the plant first and sea anemones right after.
