Help[Opinions] Tawny
I've been thinking about this name a lot lately. While I don't think use it for a future daughter, I do wish my parents named me it. It's such a simple and cute name. I never met anyone named Tawny and I only know a couple of characters with this name. I think it's weird that it's an uncommon name, it's so pretty it should be more popular. I also like the spelling Tawnie.
What do you guys think?

I knew a keeshond named Tawny, after his fur colour. He fathered a puppy on the dog next door which they named Fawny.

It is different and I think it's cute. I first heard it used on a TV show character who was intelligent and witty and I liked it immediately.
Didn't realize until later that it's also one of those so-called "tacky" names along the same vein as Tammy, Bobbie, etc. But a person makes the name, a name doesn't make the person - so I see the appeal of Tawny.

I actually started to like the name when I first heard it from a character on a drama called Rectify. The character turned out to be a kind and wholesome person, so I liked it even more.
And yeah I don't see how Tawny is a tacky name either. I get that it sounds too similar to Tammy and Tommie, but that's a dumb reason to hate it. So you're right, "a person makes the name, a name doesn't make the person".

Brown's a nice color tho. It's not as loud as other colors but it still gives off a nice vibe. Plus, I really don't see the connect with fur and animals :/

It always makes me think of animal coat colors. Very whimsical and light. Fawn-y.
The letter combo aw doesn't appeal to me in feminine names. I don't care for it in Dawn either.
The sound isn't bad though - it sounds nice enough. I'd spell it Tani.

Playboy objectifies women, and contributes to the unrealistic body image that hurts women. They use to, at least, (not sure if they do any longer), have women walk around wearing bunny ears and fluffy round rabbit tails on their buttocks, and I find that extremely degrading.
I honestly have less of a problem with straight-out pornography than I do with Playboy. At least porn shows both genders doing their thing. Playboy's message is and always has been that women are only good as sex toys for men. That women are only the sum of their attractive body parts, and if they don't have (what's pitched to men as being) perfect, attractive body parts, then said women are worthless.

Playboy is a pretty loaded association for a lot of people, even if they hold no judgement for the women who pose for it.
I personally would not want people to associate my daughter's name with Playboy because it is so divisive in opinion and I also am fine with saying that I would not ever hope for any daughter of mine to one day pose for the magazine or look up to women who do.
