I love Gwendolyn, so Wendy, though I like Wendy / Gwen a great deal as well.

Lily. I've always loved the name since I was a child, there's something very 'trailer-y' about Wendy to me probably because the only Wendy I knew was like that

Definitely Wendy.Lily is pale and drooping and sentimental. Wendy has energy, and 'dated' is surely better than 'over-used'.

I was JUST thinking about Wendy and was going to post! I guess I will ask it here. If you were to use Wendy, what full name other than Gwendolen (or its variants) would you use? I think if I were honest with myself I would go with a variation of Lily like Lillie or Lilly. Mostly because I like the vintage look of the last two and dislike the popularity of the first, and I don't really like lilies so the name being the same as the flower name isn't important to me.

I love Gwendolyn, so Wendy, though I like Wendy / Gwen a great deal as well.I also love Grendel (Gren) - as well as Wren. I like Grendel & Wren (Wendel) for either gender.
___________________________________________________________________I posted this copy from last year on Wren. I love Wren for either gender. Your combo floats the boat.
Certain folios of Shakespeare's Pericles substitute "p'r'etty" for "petty"; yet Dionyza, the Character that decries the deed--no deed at all, this is figurative language, which the wrens descry is a villain or villainess - and attempts to belittle them while she cajoles her husband. The songbirds, despite their description, are noble. "Be one of those that thinks
The pretty wrens of Tharsus will fly hence,
And open this to Pericles. I do shame
To think of what a noble strain you are,
And of how coward a spirit."

I'd probably use Merewen (one of my middles for it begins with D) or Rowenna. Any -wen name would work I think, or Wanda.

If I wanted to use a full name I would go with Gwendolen. I guess you could also use Gwendolyn but I prefer Gwendolen, the original. I really can't think of anything else. I also like Wendy on its own.

I'm gonna say Wendy. I almost chose Lily because Wendy is dated to me - I just think of someone's mom. It really is cute and pretty but it's so common that it's almost generic; I don't even stop to think, "oh, how pretty" because I've heard it so much. However, if I heard it on a little girl these days, I probably would stop and go, "Hmm, that's nice to hear." I mostly feel the same about Lily. It's sweet but a little too fragile-sounding. It's pretty but so common that I can't really appreciate it these days. I think it makes for a cute mn though.

Lily. It's common, but pretty IMO. Wendy always makes me think of fast food and is dated.

Lily definitely. It's just a far nicer name imo. I prefer the sound and the look and I love the botanical connection. I have an aunt called Wendy and there is an interesting relationship there, so that puts me off the name.

Lily, because it would honor my paternal Grandmother: Lilian/Lily. I like Wendy too but not enough to choose it over Lily.

I would choose Lily because I love itI would not choose Wendy because I hate it. Sound, derivation, datedness everything about it.

Wendy, I guess.I've kind of taken against Lily. Not sure why. I dislike Lillian, and perhaps it's rubbed off on Lily.

Definitely Lily (as long as your last name isn't White). Wendy sounds childish.

Wendy, i find Lily prissy.

LilyIt's cuter, fresher, more modern, and prettier imo. I've loved it since I was little.
vote up1
Lily because I would rather be named Lily over Wendy despite popularity. Wendy is cute but nms.

Wendy. Lily is just so popular.

Wendy. There are too many Lilys running around, and I actually like Wendy. It's warm and friendly.

I would choose Lily because it sounds more modern and names that represent flowers feel prettier and girlier to me.

Hi !!!It is so difficult !!!I love both since I was a child (one because of Peter Pan and one for Harry Potter). So these are among those 'foreign'names that I know since I was around six.I can't decide, sorry. Both are currently 8.5 / 10.

Lily!Wendy is OK but just dated. I cannot imagine the name on a younger generation. A wendy to me is an older-elderly woman. Like 50's or aboveLily is cute and relevant. It's classic and will age well without ever being dated. Also, it also appeals more to me just by the look and sound.

Lily, definitely. Overused, and not a huge favorite, but I don't dislike it.I dislike Wendy and always have. It makes me think either of a witch or a clunky, graceless girl. (Even though the only Wendy I've ever known was not at all like that. We all know there need not be logic to that type of thing.)

Wendy, without a thought.

Right now, I'm leaning towards Wendy. To me Wendy has a touch more personality than Lily (mostly due to character associations).

Lily. I hate Wendy.
