I really love Maude though

I actually kind of like it - Maude meets Claudette, and I love both of those names.

My first thought was: "if I ever have a mule, I will name her Maudette"

It's overly frilly, rids Maud of its no-nonsense charm.

Wouldn't at all be an option for me, sounds like Karl Lagerfeld's favorite: his Birman cat Choupette.

P.S.: I'm not a big fan of Maud/Maude either, because of our common local pronunciation, such as Mout, prefer Matilda or Mathilda.

Horrible; a ghastly travesty, taking the tough, energetic medieval associations and the Tennysonian temptress ones and transforming them into ... I don't even know ... synthetic, drooping nylon frills?

I think it's too frilly. Maud is perfectly lovely as is, Why needlessly add to it?

I don't like it. I adore Maude, but trying ti dress it up in frills is just not seeing it for the ugly duckling it is. Its awkward to say.

It doesn't roll off the tongue very well. Looks as though someone combined Maud and Odette - two names that are fine on their own.

As if Maude wasn't ugly enough. Maudette is like a splatter of bird droppings on a ratty polyester plaid jacket. Ugly on top of ugly.
