All of the Tamaras I know (pronounced either tah-MARE-ah or TAM-ah-rah) go by Tammy/Tammi/Tami which I greatly dislike. I'm not particularly fond of
Tamara, either pronunciation, even without the possible nn, though. It's just ok to me. However, I do agree with Bear that
Tamar is lovely.
