I think Lance is usable because my daughter's first little boyfriend, when she was 12, was named Lance. But not Lancelot. It's OTT.
And to me it has a slightly comical air, because I always think of the "I Love Lucy" episode in which Lucy writes an operetta, and Ricky is forced to sing the words, "I am the good Prince Lancelot, I like to sing and dance a lot."
