[Opinions] 20 Perfectly Paired Baby Names for Boy/Girl Twins
Well, according to Cafe Mom, they are "perfectly paired":Hazel and Hugo
Emma and Evan
Eva and Ethan
Christina and Christian
Vivienne and Val
Taylor and Tyler
Madison and Mason
Ava and Alexander
Sophia and Samuel
Penelope and Pax
Chloe and Caleb
Savannah and Sebastian
Lily and Luke
Dylan and Dean
Naomi and Noah
Avery and Aiden
Grace and Gavin
Imogen and Isaac
Juliette and James
Claire and CliveOkay, so most of these names are popular, and we here on BtN tend not to believe in naming twins any differently than you would non-twins anyway. I don't, myself. But I have a few questions:Are there any sets here that make you like one of the names more because it's paired with the other name? (For instance, I normally hate Hugo, but it being paired with Hazel here is making me like it more.)Obviously, each pair starts with the same letter, and they were chosen to go together, but they are matchy to different degrees. Which do you find not that badly matchy and which are way too matchy?Which set do you think compliments each other the most, and which the least? Which set is your overall favorite and which is your overall least favorite?

Ugh, the matching initials. If I had twins I would go out of my way NOT to give them names starting with the same letter. It's so twee.Penelope and Pax are really weird together. Ditto Claire and Clive -- talk about two drastically different styles.Sophia and Samuel are really nice together, matchiness aside. My least favorite is probably Taylor and Tyler. Come on now.

I like Imogen & Isaac and Hazel & Hugo. and think those two compliment each other without being too matchy. But the others? Shudder. My least favorite pairing has got to be Penelope & Pax . Not even remotely paired.

Least favorite is Madison and Mason. Too similar. Plus Madison is trashy and Mason makes me think of Manson (as in Charles Manson). Grace and Gavin as well as Vivienne and Val are nice.

I don't find Grace/Gavin, Penelope/Pax, Dylan/Duke, and Lily/Luke are overly similar. They don't share a lot of the same sounds. Taylor/Tyler and Christina/Christian are waaaay to similar.

Emma and Evan have far too similar sounds for me... but Christina and Christian are basically the same name! Why would you do that? And Taylor and Tyler.. (I actually knew siblings, though not twins, named Taylor and Tyler. I was mystified even as a child that their parents couldn't come up with any other name that they liked.) And Madison and Mason rhyme, rhyming is the worst kind of matchey. Vivienne & Val ans Savannah & Sebastian just don't jive with me together well. I wouldn't expect to see them on siblings, much less twins. I do like Lily & Luke (probably my favorite? ), Naomi & Noah, Hugo & Hazel, & Juliette and James. Penelope & Pax are interesting. I'm not sure I love it but they do fit well together.ETA: wait, Dylan was supposed to be a girl? I don't like that at all, and it seems so weird paired with Dean.

I normally dislike it when twins are named using the same initial, but some of these aren't bad.I like these:Hazel and Hugo
Ava and Alexander
Sophia and SamuelThese are terrible:Taylor and Tyler
Madison and Mason
Christina and Christian
Vivienne and Val - I like Vivienne, but Val is a nickname. If it's short for Valentine / Valentino then it's a nice pair.

Ones I think "work":Hazel and Hugo
Ava and Alexander
Sophia and Samuel
Penelope and Pax
Chloe and Caleb
Lily and Luke
Grace and Gavin
Imogen and Isaac
Juliette and James (Julia and James would work better)Taylor/Tyler, Christian/Christina and Madison/Mason are probably the worst in terms of matchiness. I'm also particularly annoyed by ones that aren't similar in style at all - Savannah and Sebastian, Claire and Clive. Noah and Naomi I like together on paper, but I feel like they'd be pretty tongue-twisty irl. Sophia/Samuel, Ava/Alexander and Imogen/Isaac are the most complimentary imo. I like Penelope/Pax a lot too.I'm actually kind of fond of twin names starting with the same letter. I wouldn't go out of my way to avoid in, in any case.

I don't like obvious matchy twins when it is done on purpose. There is potential that I'd maybe go with a subtle theme if they were both names that I loved. Probably not these but something like Claire and Serena or Anna and Grace. If both of the names I loved the most happened to start with the same letter, I wouldn't avoid using them for twins.I think these are nice, and I wouldn't necessarily assume the parents had aimed for the same letter because they feel like they are the same style and not too close in sound:Hazel and Hugo
Ava and Alexander
Sophia and Samuel
Imogen and Isaac (these are both names I would actually consider using IRL myself)Some of those pairings are real tongue twisters and super confusing! They did a decent enough job pairing names with similar popularities/styles though. The ones that stand out to me as not even sounding like siblings are Claire and Clive, Savannah and Sebastian, and Vivienne and Val.

The only pairs where I like both names are...Ava and Alexander
Sophia and Samuel
Juliette (prefer Juliet) and JamesIndividually I like...Evan
Eva
Christina
Vivienne
Sebastian
Luke
GraceI think these ones are way too matchy...Christina and Christian
Taylor and Tyler
Madison and Mason
...and these ones are matchy but not too bad...Emma and Evan
Avery and Aiden
Claire and CliveI think Lily and Luke is nice, although I don't usually like Lily. Vivienne and Val is weird, Val would be better short for Valentine or something. My overall favourite is Sophia and Samuel, and least favourite is probably Madison and Mason.
