[Opinions] Friend's BA
A friend of mine just had her second daughter. Her first child's name is Coralie, so I had high expectations for a slightly offbeat, delightfully old-fashioned and feminine name.
Her second daughter's name is...
Natalie.
It's not awful. It's got history and a pretty sound and it's certainly feminine, but I can't help but be disappointed. In our area Natalie got pretty popular for 70s/80s babies, plus the matchy "ie" endings are a little much.

I have a similar friend. First child is Lauralei, and for the second.....Michael. I mean there is nothing wrong with Michael but it is so boring compared to Lauralei.
Coralie is really pretty and different without being too out there. Natalie is nice, classic and familiar without being overused. I agree with you about the -ie endings though. It is a little matchy.

I actually really love Natalie. I think it's pretty and sweet.
I like Natalie but that's way too matchy.
A bit matchy, yes. Both names end in 'alie' only the first 3 letters transform them into different names.
Coralie I don't really care for. I prefer Cora and maybe even Coral more.
Natalie: Nmts. It's a classic and decent name. I know a 5 year old girl with that name who recently started kindergarten. As of currently, she's the first Natalie I ever came a crossed.

I like both names, but yes, they are too matchy. It's not just the "ie" ending. The second and third syllables are the same.
Coralie in particular is great. It's crisp yet pretty and you really don't hear it much. I've never known one. It's been in the top thousand for only two years in the US since 1880, the second one being 1929. It's hard to find a name that is neither trendy/popular nor dated, but also seems familiar and accessible. Coralie fits the bill.
