Although this is my first time seeing it, it still strike me as a little old-fashioned but I oddly like it. I think a little girl could pull it off today.

Shirlene sounds like a redneck name. Shirley is much better.

Don't really care for Robina. Most people have no problem picturing Robin on girls, and there's Robyn for those who think Robin is not feminine enough, so Robina sounds kind of unnecessary.

The sound of Shirley is nice but I've never been a big fan of the name. It is kind of cute.

A lot of the -ene -een ending names have retro country flair verging on hick, which isn't a bad thing, it just depends on your viewpoint.

Shirlene is like Charlene's hillbilly sister (and Charlene is, itself, quite dated). Not a fan. Neither am I of Robina - it's one of the few "feminizations" that I don't think is necessary (and I say this as a huge Morgana fan). Robin is fine... or Robyn, if you still think Robin looks too masculine.

Shirlene is interesting. I usually like -ene and -ine names, but not so much in this case.

Done't take my advice though... because I love Shirley / Shirlie / Shirlee as they are. To be fair, I do think that Shirlene looks more modern, and would even offer Shirline.

Robina I like a lot. I also like the simple Robin, but you could use it as a nn for Robina I think. Honoring-wise though, I like Roberta a lot and think Birdy makes a retro-chic nn for it.

I prefer Shirley to Shirlene. I'm not very fond of -lene/-leen names.
Robina is cute.

It sounds sooooo dated. Like a big ol' baby boomer! It reminds me of this neighbor I used to have. She had red hair and was big and sort of scary and would meanly stare people down who would walk by. We called her Scowlene. Also, we used to have a dog who growled a lot. We called her Snarlene.

It'd be a curiosity, I think, on a young girl. Kind of like Marilyn, Carolyn, or Charlene itself. I don't really think the datedness matters because it's not a mom name anymore, and the youth of a bearer would make it seem new again.

Robina ... is ok. I don't really like the sound of it, either. I guess it's better than Roberta, and not worse than Robin, as a baby name.

It definitely sounds dated but its much better than Shirley. Bleck! I'd take Shirlene over Shirley ANY day.

I think Shirley is kind of cute, sort of. Shirleen/Shirlene not so much; it tries just a little too hard, and is likely to be misheard as either Shirley or Charlene anyway.
Robina likewise seems to be trying to hard to feminize Robin, which is already plenty feminine in the US.
