[Opinions] Re: Caroline
I love Caroline.I pronounce Caroline and Carolyn differently. The last syllable of Caroline has a long I sound and rhymes with "wine", and the last syllable of Carolyn has a....not sure what you'd call it, but the last syllable rhymes with "win".Now that you mention it, it occurs to me that in the TV show "Little House on the Prairie", the name Caroline, which was Mrs. Ingalls/Ma's name, was always pronounced like I pronounce Carolyn. At least, Michael Landon as Mr. Ingalls/Pa pronounced it that way. And it always bugged me. I'd always want to say, "It's CaroLIIIIINE, you idiot!"So I love Caroline and I've always disliked Carolyn. I think the only reason for my dislike of Carolyn is that it was popular when I was born, and had been for several decades previous to that, while Caroline was not, so I just got sick of Carolyn.
