[Opinions] Francis?
I've heard some people say that they think Francis is too feminine for a boy. Personally, I automatically think of Francis as a name for a boy & Frances as feminine, I guess. Wdyt of the name Francis for a boy? What are some mns for Francis?

I like Francis fine but more as a mn because I think Frank is awful and I don't really see any other options.

I don't like Frank either. If I ever have a Francis, he'll just go by Francis.

Although Francis/es is a gender neutral name..I prefer it on a girl and spelled Frances.

I like it. It's a classic boys name, especially in catholic families. My g.g. grandfather was Francis, I believe he was called Frank.

Francis reminds me of the bulldog on Oliver and Company. This is also the name Francis [yes with an I] i'm using for my future female Boston Terrier."There is none Holy like The Lord, there is none besides Thee; there is no Rock like our God." (1 Samuel 2:2 RSV)

I like Francis as a middle name, but not really as a first name. For me, it is unisex. It's my boyfriend's middle name, though, so I've liked it more and mroe these past few months ;-).I don't know what middle names would go with this, because I think of it as a middle name, but how about:
Francis Edward
Francis James
Francis Marcus
Francis Benjamin
Francis Michael
Francis Cole
Francis Thomas
Francis John
Francis Richard
Francis Robert
Francis Daniel

Francis is a great name for a boy in my opinion, and I don't think it sounds feminine (to me, Francis is the masculine form and Frances is the feminine form).

Francis is a great name, not even the slightest feminine because it's a boys' name, and it'll always be. I really love this name.

Francis is one of my all time favorite names for a boy.

I kind of have a soft spot for it, but for practicality's sake I like Frank more. I just think has a little more of something to it. And my reasons are not because Francis is too feminine, either; Frank just has more appeal to me. I think anything classic could go with Francis as a middle name; Richard, William, Jeremiah, Lawrence, and Howard are some of my personal favorites that I think fit (but they're my favorites--I think they fit wit anything. :-) ). And I agree, by the way: Francis is masculine, Frances is feminine. I wouldn't use Francis for a girl even though BTN lists the spelling as unisex.

Francis is my #1 name for a boy. It is definitely not too feminine...people who say so are just silly, it has a tremendous history as a male name, it's not a surname like Parker (or anything else) that could honestly go either way (though people prefer to think of them as originally boys names).

I love Francis; it's one of my long-time favorites. Francis Bacon jumps to my mind first, so it strikes me as a very intelligent, distinguished name with a lot of history behind it. For a girl, I prefer Francisca to Frances. My suggestions:Francis Abram
Francis Theodore
Francis Gideon
Francis Martin
Francis Julian
Francis Edward
Francis Leo
Francis Milo
Francis Graham

What! I like Francis! Not my favorite name, but I like it considerably. I like Francis James though, to be honest, I'm too in love with Carson and Gabriel etc. to actually use it. :)

I think Frances is more masculine, though it's NMS. THere's a kid in my Homeroom and English class named Frances, but everyone calls him Frank.----------------------------------------------------------------
Time to unload the gigantic lists of names running rampant in my head...
