CatherineIt might be boring, but Catherine isn't really a choice anybody would "judge," if you catch my drift.Other English names that will always be taken seriously:Caroline
Charlotte (I don't like it, personally, but it's a name that fits the bill)
Clara
Margaret
Elizabeth
Ann / Anne
Jane
Julia
Laura
Mary / Maria
Diana
Emily
Sarah
Deborah (Debra is a bit more dated)

C-names!!!I love Clarice / Clarisse obviously. I could give you a zillion - but here are a few that I think might work mainstream:Claire (the standard)
Camille
Cadence
Celeste
Clarissa
Calista
Cecelia
Coral
Cora
I also like Carole and Cassidy, but not sure how much they are universally viewed.
Catherine, Candace and Charlotte would be very mainstream to me, but a bit boring. Clarion and Cordelia are bolder, but usable, and not mainstream.

My Suggestions:Charlotte, Clarissa, Catherine, Colleen, Coral, Cecelia, and Cynthia.

ClareI feel like Clare, especially this preferable condensed spelling, is so quintessentially British (by American standards), and has a sleek minimalist look without the extra bulk of the added 'i' vowel in the more-used French form. 'Claire' feels older. Clare feels clean and buttoned up to me, but not bratty; an organized, successful person. Add a more elaborate middle name for balance and it's dynamite:Clare Matilda
Clare Victoria
Clare Joanna
Clare Cordelia
Clare Fiona
Clare Josephine
Clare LuciaOther English 'C' classics:Catherine
Charlotte
Constance
Cecily
Cora (less classic, but definitely dynamic at the moment)

Anything that's classic, like Catherine, Caroline, and Charlotte, is definitely on the list.

The first that come to my mind would be Charlotte, Catherine, Clara, Claire and Caroline. I'm assuming by "never go wrong" you want something that's timeless and classic and has proven it can stand the test of time.

What do you mean by "can never go wrong?" Do you mean that its unlikely to be made fun of, that's its classic, that its popular and well liked?I guess I would suggest Clara, Caroline, Charlotte, or Corinne.
