It always makes me sad that so many find Elise "prissy". I don't think it's unfair comment but I'm so far from "prissy" that it just feels weird. I don't love my name or anything- it's served me well for the most part so I can't complain. It's just so strange when a word that is so the opposite of your own personality traits is used to describe someone's perception of your name.
You're not the only one in this thread that used that exact word! I just commented here because you're the most recent one I read lol

I am sorry that others communicate such descriptions of your name. I've always liked it as both soft & warm.
Where I live, Elise has pronunciation issues built in. Some say eLEES, some say eLEEZ, and one usually guesses wrong. Anyway, I'd use (and have used) Elizabeth. If I wanted a short form, it would be Elsabe or Elspeth.
Alice has no issues, apart from its current popularity, which I find refreshing. I'd use it in a heartbeat.

Alice, it's my nana's name and it's timeless but I also don't mind Elise
Elise. I think it sounds prettier, but I like both.
Alice.
I love Elise too, but Alice has always looked and sounded a lot prettier to me. At least when it comes to the English way of pronouncing it, since in Danish there are a few sharper edges to the name Alice when we pronounce it here and it's not as smooth sounding. So, Alice in the English way it is.

Alice! I just think it's prettier and it's more classic :)
Elise
The sound is nicer, and something about Alice turns me off. Maybe it's because it has the word "lice" in it.
