I watched a documentary on James A. Garfield. He was committed to continuing to help the former slaves in the South achieve full citizenship status, but of course, this never happened due to his assassination just a few months after being elected. He certainly seemed very admirable.

Good to know he had some admirable goals regarding African Americans. Makes it a shame he was killed so soon after being elected.

Lincoln was certainly not considered attractive during his lifetime, but I think he had the sort of looks that appeal to a subset of women.
