I dislike nicknames as full names in general, but I dislike Gertie as a full name in particular. It's simultaneously cutesy and crochety, and I just don't like the sound of it at all, it just feels... Gross, for some reason.

It does rhyme with dirty...
I went to a school called St Gertrude's, and the students there were sometimes jokingly called dirty Gerties.
It seems kind of sassy when I think about it like that, but I can see why it'd be "gross" too.
