This list is a good cross-section of naming. There are a few gems, a lot of average names, and some tryndee, made-up-and-misspelled fare.
The good:
William and Evelyn — you just can’t beat these evergreen classics. They’re substantial, venerable, and distinct, and as a plus they have a lot of NN options.
Elizabeth Shelley and Audrey Charlotte — I’m assuming Shelley is honoring a family LN. Overall these are two classic, beautiful, and substantial combos.
Genevieve Cecille — I can get over my dislike of Cecille’s meaning for a bit to appreciate the beauty and complexity of this combo. It really does flow very well together.
Samuel Alexander — simple, strong, handsome, and practical: what else could you want in a name?
William David — same. It’s a strong, simple, time-honored combo that will do the bearer well his whole life.
Henry David — same. Just can’t give enough praise to these practical, substantial classics.
The average:
Chelsea Monique — 80s dated, but not tacky in the same sense as some other dated combos on this list. I can actually see the appeal of these names, even if I’d never use them.
Cooper John — I know names don’t suggest ages but it’s really hard to see Cooper on an adult, much less an old man. It just sounds young to me.
Brody Cooper — putting Brody in front of Cooper makes it even more childlike IMO.
Pippa Jade — Pippa seems so lightweight and insubstantial to me, especially on its own. Philippa as a full name would have been so much better.
Liam .... — 10 years ago I loved this name but now it’s become trendy, dry, overused, and just tiresome. Give it a rest or use it as an NN for William.
Sam William — tired of nicknames as full names. Samuel William would have been so much more complex and distinctive.
Charlotte Lily — common, trendy, and plain, but not terrible. Won’t cause the bearer any problems.
Greyson James — really don’t get the appeal of Greyson, except for the whole -ayson trend. Wish people would just go back to using Jason and forget all the new spinoffs.
Tove Judy-May — I like Tove pronounced the Swedish way but I’ve seen some really off pronounciations in English-speaking countries. I hope they aren’t pronouncing Tove to rhyme with love (the English word) or rove.
The painful:
Zia Rhaedyn — Zia isn’t terrible but Rhaedyn? Really? I really wish people would resist the urge to keep inventing new -ayden names and spelling them dozens of ways. Can’t they find a new trendy sound to latch onto?
Ava Quinsee — What was wrong with Quincy? Why did they have to mess up a perfectly good classic name?
Bowie Kenneth — I like David Bowie as much as the next person, but his last name doesn’t really work as an FN.
Jaxson Joseph — why spell Jackson this way? The “xs” is so unnecessary and defies the rules of phonetics. Jackson works. Even Jaxon would be better. Jaxson just seems like someone has no idea how to write English.
Zayde Nixon — a made-up, tryndee, meaningless FN and the name of the worst president in American history as an MN. Just perfect.
Trig Edward — Trigg? Really? Just a random, meaningless, vaguely aggressive sound?
Juke Joshua — see Trigg. The J- middle name just makes it worse.
Indi Margaret — Indi is cool as an NN but seems so childish as a full name. Indira, India, even Indigo would have been better.
McKenzie Jade — 80s tacky, just like leg warmers, shoulder pads, and too much hairspray. Dated and insubstantial.
