[Opinions] Indie
Opinions on Indie for a girl?
Replies
Don't like it. It reminds me of hipsters (basically anything with the word "indie" tends to make me think hipster).
At first I thought Indie was what India is called in French, but it turns out that the French word for India is Inde. (Although I did find out that Indie is India in Czech.) In Portuguese India is called Índia, although I've never heard of it being used as a name in Brazil or Portugal.

I would only like it if it was a nickname for India.
As a female Indy, I'm cool with it, but even I prefer it on a boy.
It's okay as a casual nn for a name it works for. I find it rather baffling as a full name - it's not even a full word! - and it isn't something I'd associate with people, just films, film studios & smaller record labels.
For me, indie simply means independent, so if I met a kid called Indie I would assume that their parents were hipsters.
I like Indigo for a girl, though.

Not a fan. I know a girl named Indigo who does by Indie.
It's a gp of mine, and I like its connection to the word independent, but it also kind of seems like you're naming your kid after a country that you're (probably) not from.
Trendy, insubstantial, meaningless, childish — it’s a definite no in my opinion.

It just reminds me of the abbreviation for "independent" (as an indie movie/musician etc).
