Princess Joanna passed away from a sudden illness, a plague that swept over much of the rest of the kingdom, four years ago. Her family misses her terribly, especially Princess Beatrice, who was her playmate closest in age. A new baby princess, Victoria, was born into the family two years after her sister's passing.
Louis XII, King of France, proposed that his daughter Agnes marry into the royal family of Northumbria. King Ambrose thought that the match would be unsuitable between Prince Edmund and the baby princess Agnes, since Edmund would be nearly 30 by the time the marriage could take place. He refused the proposal and is consulting his advisors and delegates on how to proceed further with the relationship with France.
