[Opinions] Cassandra
What are you overall thoughts on this name?Do you think it’s associated with the 80s and 90s to the point a girl born today would dislike having it for that reason - do you think it is or will soon become a “mom name”Thanks!http://www.behindthename.com/pnl/87410

I like it. I wish my parents had of names this instead of just Cassie. My name is too nicknamey and I'm constantly getting asked if its short for Cassandra. My mums name is Sandra too so it would have been good to have.

I was just thinking about Cassandra a few days ago. I love the way it looks and sounds. I just don't care for Cassie and my dh doesn't care for the full name on a full-time basis so we'd probably never use it (if we were to have more children which we most definitely aren't).I don't find Cassandra dated for some reason. Then again, I've only known one person with this name (Cassandra Marie, "Cassie") who is in her early 30s. It still seems pretty fresh in my mind.

I like it and I don't think it's dated. Only the "Sandra" part is 80's IMO, and that's only if you use it as a nickname. The full Cassandra, Cass, Cassie, etc. aren't dated.
I don't really like the ambiguity of the second vowel. I don't really like it as much if the "sand" part is pronounced like the word "sand". In theory I like that it's a mythology name, but it doesn't really feel mythological to me because it's so common.

I think it’s a very nice name, and fairly timeless. I coukd see it being used in any era and by lots of different types of people. It also fits in well with several different styles, so it’s easy to find sibling names to go with it.

I like it a lot. It's not an 80s/90s name here, just an unusual classic. The only two I've met were born in the 1970s and the 1940s.
Main associations, apart from the seer: Jane Austen's sister and Cassandra Mortmain from I Capture the Castle.

I think it's rather nice. I have a weakness for mythology names anyway :)

I like it! I think the meaning is wonderful and actually like the association with the prophetess of doom and, by extension, pessimistic realism. It does have kind of an 80s vibe to me, but to me it feels more like an “offbeat classic” than a Karen-style “mom name.” It also dates much further back than the 80s, so there is that long history to refer to.

I can't hear this name without thinking of the "Wayne's World" movie, lol.Anyway, it's okay. I never liked it, much, probably because of the Cass-. I just don't like that sound, it reminds me of really thick, creamy milk, for some reason. I have weird associations, sometimes.I can't say whether a kid today would dislike having the name, but I'll go with no? It's fine. It's not horribly out of place, or anything.
