I prefer Kathryn over both. Katheryn is more interesting than Katherine but it doesn’t look quite right to me.

I really don't like Katheryn, but I do like Kathryn. Katharine is probably my favorite spelling of the name.

My personal favorite spelling of the name is Katharyn, with a middle A. Second is Katharine, like Kepburn. Whether a -yn or -ine ending is used, I prefer when the name has a middle A to a middle E, though the latter is far more common.

Orthographically y should be substituted for i or ie only at the end of words. In other locations it should indicate the original vowel was a Greek upsilon or Icelandic u with i-umlaut, which has been unrounded to |i| in English but retains the Y character to indicate its foreign origin, i.e. Cyprus, Lydia. Since Greek Ekaterine does not contain an upsilon, it should preferably be spelled Katherine.

There's so many spellings of Katherine that I don't think it matters much.

I'd rather sign my name as Emily Katheryn, just because I feel like ys are more fun to write.

Katheryn looks horribly misspelled to me. I like Catherine and Katherine. Kathryn and Katharine are acceptable too but Katheryn just looks odd.

I would actually prefer Emily Catherine and Emilie Catherine. Catherine goes especially well with Emilie, in my opinion, as Emilie is French and we use Catherine is France too.

I think I always prefer Katherine. I don't mind alternate spellings - it just disappoints me a little because the change to the spelling fails to make the name more appealing or striking to me, maybe because the name has so many spellings and forms.

I guess if I ignore which spelling is easier, and it's purely about aesthetics (and I'm sure you mean that it is!) I would wish to avoid the paired Ys of Emily Katheryn. So, Emily Katherine would be my favorite, but Emilie Katheryn is better than Emily Katheryn.

Why not Emily Katherine?

Just because it is my first name, I like Kathryn.
I especially enjoy the letter y, as my middle name and last name have no "tails" below the line.

Katherine looks more familiar to me, so I think I’d most likely choose her every time.

Most people here tend to like traditional spellings, me included. But for middle names I think either would be fine, as you're not going to have to keep spelling it. One of my relations got Cathrena as a middle name; no idea where that came from, but it's interesting!

Seeing both combos side by side I think you're being cutesy. Using -ryn to match the y in Emily and vice versa with Emilie/-rine. Granted I'd probably never think this without seeing both next to each other.

That being said I think I like Kathryn better. It could just be my best friend spells it Kathryn, but -rine just doesn't look right anymore. As if it should be pn differently.

I've actually only ever seen Kathryn, not Katheryn. Kathryn has always driven me nuts.

Definitely Katherine. The y spelling seems a bit forced to me, while Katherine seems natural and elegant.

Katherine for me. Having said that, I can see the appeal of the balance of ‘y’ in Emily Katheryn, It might be a rare exception, but most of the time I would choose Katherine or Catherine.
