I was at school with a Rochelle, who was plumply pleasant and a redhead. We were happy that she was at our school, because a town nearby had a (very good) girls' school called La Rochelle.

I've got two very good Michele friends, one here in South Africa and one actually in France. I've never met a Michelle that I've liked nearly as much, and that's affected my opinion. But, I prefer Michele to Rochelle.

I always think of New Rochelle, New York.

I don't think of those names are being in the same category, but I like Michelle better.

It’s okay. It was the name (albeit spelled differently) of a family friend so that’s all I can think about. I like it much better than Michelle, which was overused IMO.

I prefer the meaning of Rochelle, and I'm currently fond of Ro as a feminine nickname, so yeah, probably, although I don't dislike Michelle.

If I met a Rochelle I might briefly wonder why she wasn't a Rachel, but other than that, nothing sticks out about it to me. I've never met or heard of any.

One of my best friends and one of the very few people I can talk (or not talk) comfortably with is called Rochelle, so I have a very positive association. It’s not really my style and I wouldn’t use friends names, but I think it’s a really fun choice. Far more interesting than Michelle in my opinion.
