Am I pronouncing it right, or close to right - "Eve- WAHR"?
I feel it's just a little too French for someone like me to use ... kind of the way that Antoine or Victoire is. So I still like Ivory better, in terms of favorites. But Ivoire is cool. I'd never heard it before.

You're close: the pronunciation is ee-WAR. :) See also its IPA key: /i.vwaʁ/
I understand what you mean - the name is French in a rather heavy way, instead of a lighter way like e.g. Odette. It indeed makes the name a bit clunky for use outside of francophone countries, but it's still a lovely and somewhat quirky name. I'm growing fonder of it the more I think about it! :)
