Boy, or girl? Hmm. Your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

In the way that these things happen...I read an article yesterday about 4 brothers who died while serving in the RAF in WW2. Their surname was Garland and their sister named one of her daughters after them so the family name wouldn't die out

Either ... the sound is masculine, image is feminine. My split-second answer was girl.

Oh, boy, definitely. I can't conceive of it as feminine at all.

Definitely boy. I had a great uncle named Garland, I can't imagine it on a girl, there's nothing feminine at all about the look or the sound or Garland.
