[Opinions] Anthea?
What are your thoughts on the name Anthea? I love it but feel some hesitation. We would use the nickname Thea.We are hoping to use it as an honor name for an Anthony. If you dont like Anthea, why and would you prefer Antonia or Athena as an honor name for Anthony?Middle name options: Florence, Firenze, Mei(May), Li, Phoenix

I much prefer Antonia and Athena.

I don't care for it at all. To me it's got a stuffy vibe to it. I don't really see how it or Athena (which I like) would honour an Anthony either. Antonia is lovely. I also like Antoinette to honour Anthony

I adore Anthea! It's deceptively simple (because subtly baroque). I prefer it to Antonia, which I also love, and to Athena, which doesn't stimulate me.Anthea Florence is perfect.

I like Anthea very much. It's a nice, not overly used classic with a pleasing meaning and I think it works very well as an honour name for an Anthony - even more so if you live somewhere that pronounces Anthony with 'anth'.
Antonia is also nice, but I prefer Anthea, and I don't think Athena works.
I like Florence and Li best from the middle names, but whatever has most meaning to you.

I quite like Anthea, but not enough to use it. I was at school with a pleasant Anthea who never had a nn at all.Anthea actually works well to honour an Anthony - not an Antony, though!Athena has got zilch to do with Anthony. I'd use Antonia before Anthea, but either would be fine.

I find Anthea a little bit hard to say.Athena is easier. However, neither is as close an honouring name for Anthony as Antonia.
Though that doesn't give you the nickname Thea, if you particularly wanted that. Maybe Thea Antonia, plus your choice of middle names. Three names are ok, our older son has 3. wishing you good luck!

Although Antonia is the direct link to Antony/Anthony we thought Anthea was actually a fairly obvious honor name as they share the same first 4 letters.Do others disagree? Also, if we went with Antonia the nickname would be Annie.
