Owen's legal struggles regarding various assets of his late wife were de facto settled with the death of Master Streete, his father-in-law. Mistress Streete did not wish to continue the battle, so Owen's troubles were ended in that regard. However, Master Streete passed down ownership of the shipping empire to his apprentice, Rowland Blanchet, an ambitious man. In fact, it was Rowland who posed an alliance: one of marriage with Owen's elder daughter, Hester, once she became 18. Owen agreed, much to his entire family's displeasure - especially that of his father, Paul, who railed against any of his grandchildren being married off to unsavory partners against their will. Sadly, Hester was not as rebellious as her sister Orpha, a.k.a. "Prissy," so she ultimately went along with it. And Paul ultimately did not live to see the wedding day, having died of a heart attack in his sleep. This caused the wedding to be postponed, and when Hester finally walked down the isle she was already with child. There were rumors that Rowland would not have married Hester if she "breed not." Furthermore, there were rumors that Owen having allowed such a thing to occur was what caused Paul Priddy's heart attack. Owen started drinking. Quite a bit. Enough that, despite living in the same estate, he actually missed the birth of his first grandson, Lemuel. Prissy, already a devoted aunt, grew to hate her father, and she frequently thought of running away.Nat, at this point, had fully taken the reins of the money-lending, and he was just as adept as Paul had ever been. His life with Vita was, given his occupation and their origins, shockingly normal. He has a standing offer for both Maud and Prissy to move in with him whenever they wish.Ben and Verena ran the Roebuck like a dream. It was a more humble life than what Ben had grown up with, but he had his own money as a cushy little safety net. They had another daughter, Imogen, to join their five other children.Nell and Cornelis live well in West London, and the eldest son, back from the University of Leipzig, just got married! And to a girl from Leipzig, no less! He saw her regularly during his studies, and they fell in love. Gitta speaks very little English, but she is learning.Titus has also recently married the daughter of the vicar in Oxford, Honor - though she has always called herself Nora.***Please rate my personal name lists:www.behindthename.com/pnl/69381
