[Opinions] Wilfred vs Percy
I'm convinced this baby is a boy. Only like 3 weeks until I find out for sure, but i've gone back to liking Wilfred.Posted in an Aussie forum about whether Wilfred would automatically get Will, and most people said no, so I was pleasantly surprised. Hubby loves Wilfred "Wilf" but I hate Will, so i'd crossed it off our list. However, now i'm cautiously putting it back on there. However, I really think that I love Percival "Percy" most.. Either combo would Percival/Percy Caspian Stewart (SURNAME)
Wilfred Caspian Stewart (SURNAME)Which is nicer with Theodoraand do you like Wilfred with the nickname Wilf or Fred/die

Cute choices. Would be great to bring them both to the baby. Wilfred would totally have to be Wilf. Percival/Percy is really sweet too and I love the Arthurian connection. Really helpful feedback, eh?

Honestly I am really not a fan of Percival or Percy. I also am not a fan of Wilfred, but I at least think it has some strength and dignity to it. Wilf has an attractive sound, but it makes me think of MILF. lol. Maybe that's not good.

I would go with Percy, definitely.

I love both, but I prefer Percival "Percy" with Theodora.Excellent choices!

I had Vilfred on my list for a short while, and I certainly prefer Wilfred over Percy. Percy is just so snobbish and whiney - it's the ultimate and perfect name for the Percy Weasley character. I'd use either Will or Fred/Freddie as nicknames. Wilf sounds weird to me, and way too close to milf...

I think they could both be cute with Theodora, but Wilfred balances Caspian better (Percival and Caspian both being fantasy hero type names, plus Stewart makes me think of the Stuart dynasty). Wilfred seems more laidback/grounded (also really dorky IMO, but it has character and would probably grow on me if I was around a baby one), and I like the meaning. Wilf is a more natural shortening of it for me than Will or Fred would be.

I like Wilfred and I'd expect it to be shortened to Wilf, because it traditionally is here, in much the same way that Alfreds are usually Alf/Alfie and not Al. I also think that if he starts off as Wilf, then the chances of him staying Wilf are fairly high. But, and I don't know if this matters to you, it's possible that Wilfred might get fairly popular. I've come across a few, and it's in the UK top 200 and rising: not sure how much that affects the Aussie charts.Percival is a lot more distinctive and different, in the same way that Theodora is - neither of them are in the charts here - so I do think they match better in that sense. I'd rather see Percival nn Percy than Percy alone, though. Percy is fine, but maybe I just dig the hunky handsome knight thing. :)

Even though I dislike Wilfred (sounds like a butler to me) I think it goes best with Theodora, but I do like the name Percival. The middle name Caspian just doesn't flow well for either name in my opinion. The NN Wilf however makes me cringe so hard because my mind just immediately goes to MILF/DILF, not an association you'd want for your kid...

PercyHi. I like Percy much more. It goes very nicely with Theodora! I think the connotation with the character Percy Jackson (Rick Riordan's young adult mythology adventure book series if you haven't read them) helps freshen the name, while it still certainly retains it's old-fashioned charm. Percy Weasley in Harry Potter could be a detractor for some, but for me that doesn't affect it too much - anything HP is good in my book (within reason!) :) edit: I just remembered that it's also used (a variation) in another book/movie Ready Player One. The main character's avatar is named Parzival after Parsifal (or Germ. Parzifal). I like just Percy though. I would definitely shorten Wilfred to Will/Wil and think others would too, so personally I'd stay away if I didn't like that nickhame (but I am in the US so maybe there's a cultural usage difference where you are?). I am not a fan of Fred/die so that wouldn't change my mind on the name either.Good luck deciding and do let us know what you choose!

I'm not a fan of Wilfred at all, sorry. It just reminds me of a big, dopey Labrador or something! Wilf or Freddie are cute nns though. Percival "Percy" is really cute though and I think Theodora and Percival make a super cute sibling set. Would you consider using just Percy, as the full name, or you like the longer name with a nn thing more? Can't wait to hear what your having! So exciting!

I'm back and forth whether to use Percival as the full name or just Percy. Percy just seems too short to me, but I don't know how often I would ever use Percival... so it's tricky. I generally prefer long names with short nicknames. I also think Theodora & Percival sound nicer than Theodora & Percy.

Definitely Wilfred.Caspian is way too modern thoug, its out of place amongst the old fashioned names.Yes, Wilf and Freddie are nice nns. What if he wants to be called Will?

If he wants to be called Will i'll disown him... lol. That is my other fear.. if he actually wants to be called Will. Will is so dull and overused at the moment.

Wilfred Caspian Stewart. Wilfred is a better name
The combo sounds sounds significantly better
Sounds better with your daughter's name (Wilfred & Theodora)
