WDYT of the name Ramses for a boy? Do you think it's usable?

I like Ramses, but I'm not bold enough to use it. Ramses is like Solomon or Moses; it has a strong association, so it takes a particular personality to pull it off. I think it is definitely usable for a middle name.

I don't think it is usable, no. It sounds cool though, the same way that Cleopatra does.

Nope it’s kind of dumb, especially if you have no personal association to Egypt in some way or other:

I like it. Usability would depend on the middle and last it's going with.

it's a condom brand ...Named after a pharaoh who had hundreds of offspring.
So, short answer: no way, Jose.

I've never heard of or seen that brand. From a cursory google search it doesn't look like they've been a thing since at least the 90s.

I was actually thinking about it recently. I really like the sound. I think it's usable but not for me.I watched too many old movies as a kid and associate it too closely with Yul Brynner...plus my conservative relatives would probably give me weird looks if I used it because he's a villain in the bible...and I just googled it: apparently it was a villain's name in Nacho Libre...it is a little cliche macho seeming, maybe because of Rambo.

As a lover of ancient Egypt I do like Ramses, but I don't know how usable it really is.
But then again there are some really horrible and stupid names in use that are unusable in my opinion, so on second thought I'll say that it's usable.

I love itI love it and it was on our short list for Elva if she'd have been a boy. So, yeah, I think it's usable. And if there had been a Y chromosome instead of an X, then there might have been a Ramses in our family :) In The Netherlands there the association with this guy:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramses_ShaffyHe's considered to be an influential singer.
This is besides the obvious association of course!
