Don and Barbara thought they were only going to have one child and opted for a natural birth. Instead, there were twins, a beautiful baby girl and a wonderful little boy. Barbara died in childbirth. After her death, Don just wasn’t himself. From that single moment, he became lost in his grief and mostly stayed away from the children, shut up in his bedroom or office. He worked from home, at his computer, which gave him another excuse to never see anyone. He’s leaning on his children to take care of him and the new twins. Mimi sort of becomes their new mother, as she just finished high school. Instead of going through college as she planned, she stays home with the twins and takes care of the family.

Barbara and Don had only decided on a name for if the baby was a boy, which Mimi is going with for her new brother. The baby boy’s first name is an English name ending in i or ie but with no nickname and he has a Scottish middle name. As for the girl, they were never told her parents’ ideas. Mimi and her siblings decided that they would name their new sister after their late mother somehow, with either a Scottish first or middle name.
