I don't like it. It seems too theatrical to use on a regular child.
I do know a few men (mostly over 50) with the Portuguese form of the name, Teobaldo. My mom has a cousin named Teobaldo - he's about 70. Can't say I'm particularly fond of the name, although I have no negative associations with it.
