[Opinions] Col vs. Cole
So for most of my life the only spelling of the name I’ve seen is Cole. However, not too long ago I encountered a variant, Col. I actually quite like it, but was wondering what you all think?

Col just looks incomplete to me. Kol would be better imo.

I like Col more than Cole because Col is obviously a short form of a real personal name and reminds me of Colin and Nicolas. While Cole is just a surname, and gives me the impression for which I generally dislike the style of using other people's surnames as first names for babies.

Cole, Cole, Cole, Cole!I am OBSESSED with this name and VERY much plan on using it for a son some day. Extremely handsome!
Col looks incomplete to me but at least it doesn't look as bad as say, 'Kole' or 'Chole/Khole' which I personally don't care for at all.

Cole looks more relaxed and friendly, whilst Col seems a bit abrupt and standoffish. But if people insist on using a variant, then I would prefer to see it spelled Coll. Seems just a tad more substantial than Col.

I generally like those medieval-type forms, but in a modern context Col looks unfinished. And I'd want to pronounce it with a short rather than long o. I do actually kind of like it better than Cole, but I think Cole is better to use.

Maybe because I'm unfamiliar with Col, but it looks unfinished. I much prefer Cole

I'd pronounce them differently. Cole would have a longer ending and Col would be short and abrupt.Cole is better and less confusing.
