It is perfect to be a full name. It is one of the more International names I've ever seen. If you look for just the masculine form Kai / Kay you will find a lot of different roots.
As an European masculine name I enjoy the Arthurian Romance link and then the Scandinavian use as short of Cornelis. Kai/Kay is a character from 'The Snow Queen' too.
