[Opinions] Re: Top 10 for January 2019
in reply to a message by Jessamine
Alexander David - I know it's honoring, but those are two really, really popular names stuck together. Either order would match a ton of people already in existence, I'm sure. He might not even be the only Alexander David in his class.
Nathaniel Isaiah - I like both names individually (Nathaniel is also in my Top 10), but I don't think I like the flow of one-TWO-three one-TWO-three, with both those names' emphasis on the second syllable. What about Nathaniel Isaac? Or Nathan Isaiah?
Lincoln Joseph - Not too crazy for Lincoln as a personal name (mostly the "Link" part), but this is decent. I used to hate Joseph (mostly because I dislike the nickname Joey), but he has grown on me.
Archer William - This is handsome.
Kieran Louis - Another Kieran fan! Louis is a nice pairing, making it seem less "on trend."
Madison Gage - Other than the fact that Madison was one of the most popular girl names for late Millennials / Gen-Z, and is still in the Top 20, and thus this would be entering "Boy Named Sue" territory... Madison Gage sounds like a cowboy in the Old West. But not a burly one. Like... the Kid character in Unforgiven.
Tristan Blake - Neither name is my style, but this isn't bad.
Elliot Vaughn - Another Vaughn fan! I don't see a lot of those. Never thought to pair Elliot with it, though (and I favor the Elliott spelling). I like it!
Bailey Aaron - I can't get behind Bailey, for either gender. Sorry. I think of Bailey's Irish Cream, and then... dogs. Sorry. Aaron is okay.
Julian Patrick - Very handsome.
Lauren Elizabeth - Not quite as common as Alexander David, but getting there. It's a pretty combo, but I think there are a lot of Lauren Elizabeths already out there. I just saw a poll asking "Lauren Elizabeth vs. Lauren Isabelle," and prefer the latter.
Sophie Jane - Very cute, yet not infantile. Would this be a double-name?
Grace Audrey - I will never be a Grace fan, I think it's very harsh, but kudos on putting it in the first name slot and not using it as a middle name for Margaret or Emily. I like Audrey quite a bit, though.
Lilia Adele - I think you're set on this combo, as it has appeared in your top 10s before (if you're the poster I'm thinking of), but I don't like how the schwa ending of Lilia runs into the short-A of Adele.
Abilene Julia - Very Southern. Definitely interesting!
Millicent Felicity - Way too many like-sounding syllables, this became a mishmash in my mouth when I said it out loud. Sorry.
Shayla Brielle - More "on trend" than anything else on your list. I'm picturing a sunny blond cheerleader who's dating the captain of the football team.
Colette Miriam - I would never have thought to put these two together, but now that I'm seeing them together, I like it. A lot.
Isla Penelope - Not a huge fan of Isla (I know it's "IE-luh," but I keep reading it in my head as "EES-lah"); but my girl Penelope is spicing the combo up a bit.
Camden Willow - Yes to Willow, but no to Camden. Whenever I hear that name I can only think of Camden, New Jersey, which is... not the safest place. What about Cambria Willow?
