It's been a great year. My (and Andrew's!) daughter is now a whole year old! She is such a wonderful child, we love her so much. Juliet loves to play around outside, and if she can't be outside, her next choice would be to run around causing mayhem indoors. She is very active and curious about the world, always jabbering on to me or Andrew about her day, or asking questions in her little year-old sentances, usually just the two or three main words nessecary, like "Dolly Night-Night?" When we put her to bed, wanting us to tuck in 'Dolly' as well, or she'll point at the sky, asking curiously why it is blue. We can't get her to stand still, but that's fine with us, she's developing wonderfully, and is healthy as can be, despite some bumps and bruises from too many trips and running around the park.
Andrew's job is going well, he still loves his medical teaching career, but says he would like to go into a new adventure, like becoming a pediatrician. That's fine with me, if it'll make him happy. It's also very nice to have someone with all the medical knowledge in the house, I appreciate Andrew in a whole new way now that we have a daughter- If Juliet gets sick, I just ask daddy what's wrong, and he usually knows.
My career is still quite un-career like, I love being a stay-at-home-mama. I'm sure Juliet appreciates it too, I'm not sure she could stand a day-care center making her stay indoors taking naps while I worked, and both Andrew and I think that it's good to bond with her. Now, though, we're thinking of me taking a weekend job, while Andrew stays home with Juliet, so that they can have some Daddy-Daughter time without me around as a distraction. Whatever happens careerwise, I'll always be home most of the time, and we'll both make room in our scheduals to spend a bunch of quality time with Juliet.
We got a pet! Our new dog, Kitty the pug, was mainly Juliet's idea. Though partly Andrew's, since he had always wanted to get a dog, Juliet, shall we say, got us moving. Recently, she's been fascinated with all dogs, or Boggies, as she calls them. We go to the park, she'll go up to any dog, big or small, and look up to it's owner with those big blue eyes, and say "I play?" So we finally got her a boggie of her own. The whole family likes Kitty, she's very gentle with Juliet, but loves to play tough with Andrew. We're very fourtunate to adopt her!
